BUNNINGS AND INDEPENDENT HARDWARE GROUP SUPPORT
Many of you will recall that we put a call out on Facebook a couple of weeks ago to purchase whipper snippers for the Mallacoota Tool Library. To our surprise and delight Bunnings in Bairnsdale heard our call. After a quick email discussion they generously agreed to donate not just 1 whipper snipper…. not just 2 whipper snippers but…more gardening tools ready for us to use this summer. These gardening tools include, 2 x line trimmers/whipper snippers, an electric lawn mower, an electric mulcher, mattocks, battery operated pruners and hedge trimmers for the Mallacoota Tool Library. However, on the way to pick up the generous donation, David’s car broke down between Mallacoota and Bairnsdale last Friday and Bunnings came to the rescue again with free delivery of these gardening tools to Mallacoota (David, time for a new car?). These tools will be available to Mallacoota residents for loan (no charge) at the Mallacoota Tool Library tomorrow onwards.
We would also like to thank individuals for their generous donations after the Facebook call out for funds to purchase whipper snippers a couple of weeks ago. We raised $143. The donations we have received so far have been placed in our Tool Maintenance Fund to replace chains for chainsaws, purchase motor oils for 4 stroke equipment and, in future, replace old and worn equipment. If you wish your donations to go elsewhere, please let us know.
In addition, we would also like to give a big shout out to the Independent Hardware Group (comprising Mitre 10 & Home Hardware Buying Group) for generously donating tools and ancillary tools (Drills, Drivers, Chainsaws, Circular Saws, Angle Grinders, Pressure Washers etc.) which we have been lending to residents since March this year. These tools have been very popular with residents. If anyone has borrowed tools from the Tool Library, please send us a photo and tell us what you built or how you used it. We’d like to include these photos and stories in our Mallacoota Tool Library Updates on Facebook. IHG have also given us a temporary loan until May 2021 of a shipping container housing the Mallacoota Tool Library.
We would also like to thank Leah Morrison for kindly donating a generator .
IDEAS FOR SUPPORT
We are also currently raising funds to purchase the shipping container on loan to us until May 2021 and presently housing the Mallacoota Tool Library. Our target is $10,000 to purchase the shipping container. If anyone has any ideas for fundraising this amount, please contact David Whittle.
